New Vector user here. I'm a long time Slackware user. Recently, I decided to try a couple of the Slack-based distros. Vector and Zenwalk won out over the others. I installed them both yesterday. No troubles to speak of so far with either. I'm having some KDE configuration problems and Slapt repo bugaboos in Vector, but nothing serious. I'll figure it out. I'm sure the answers are right here on this forum. Here's the system that Vector is installed on:
-- Antec Super LANboy case w/ TruePower 430w PSU
-- GigaByte GA-M55plus-S3G socket AM2 motherboard
-- AMD Athlon64 3800+
-- Nvidia chipset: GeForce 6100 Northbridge, nForce 430 Southbridge
-- 2Gig PNY DDR2 800 PC-6400 RAM
-- IDE 0 Master: Western Digital 250Gig (Linux: Ubuntu, Debian, Mint, Vector, Slackware, Mepis, Zenwalk)
-- SATA 0-1: Western Digital 250Gig-X2, RAID 1 (Windows XP Pro)
-- IDE 1 Master: HP DVD 840
-- IDE 1 Slave: Iomega Zip100
-- Standard 3.5" floppy
-- HP Deskjet 842C printer
-- HP Scanjet 3400 flatbed scanner
-- HP 91 19" CRT monitor
-- Generic keyboard
-- Logitech Trackball mouse
I'll be back in Vector tomorrow and later this weekend to continue on with my configuration. FUN!
