i was about to say its a bit heavy,but when i saw you payed for it,just wanted to say how glossy and nice it looks. ...and it's also bloated and slow, compared to IRC.

Here is one that works with freenode http://www.jwirc.com/chat.htmldunno if it's possible to implement that or embed it into a page to connect just to #vectorlinux Looks nice, but I cant find any reference to the source or the author of the applet. I will try to find it again later. EDIT-- I get it now I will take a look

Of course it does, but if we found a way to port it all the way down to #vectorlinux, then you can use any IRC client, and get the same thing...
I just wish I knew some Java right about now

looks like Arch Linux has a nice web client setup and working on freenode: http://archlinux.us/irc.htmlMay be worth a look.

Nice <applet width="100%" height="700" code="IRCApplet.class" archive="irc-unsigned.jar,pixx.jar" codebase=" http://java.freenode.net/freenode/pjirc/"> EDIT: As a matter of fact, if you go to http://java.freenode.net you can type in your nick and connect to any room in freenode.. This could actually be the path to something good I just entered #vectorlinux from there... and it's fairly decent and at the bottom of that page can't help seeing this

well, I think every java applet does. It will slow down almost every system a lot. But looks like is the only solution, if we want to integrate irc with the forum. Anyway, a java applet is easy to integrate, we just need to paste the code on this page.

i'd say find the lightest client possible. Java is lighter than flash,but ajax is even lighter. A friend wrote a chat client in ajax,that integrates well with the forum (show how many users are in forum in the chat, integrate user accounts from forum in the chat)... the only con is that it doesnt use irc,so it cant be bridged with vecs irc channel. http://teli.no-ip.org/ajax/client.htmlnote: *this demo is not bridged to the forum.to see a fuller version,check garbagewars.com/forum -->chat *its on a slower server,so it might load pretty slow *the server that it is hosted is a home vector server. My friend is willing to put it at google code as gpl, its extremely simple and light...but it has a few things to iron out or add.

well, at least java is open source and well,flash isnt and i dont think it will be soon...
Java is lighter than flash too...and there are a few very good java clients that are free and will do the trick.

Sorry, I thougth you was talking about the one moe suggested to replace the current. We are looking for an irc client that can connect with #vectorlinux at freenode.

I would think something like this would do the trick http://paste.uni.cc/16305All that is is a ripped version of arch's interface.. that one would connect to #vectorlinux

that code works from here! I guess we could use it embebed on the forum, should be something like elseif ($_GET["action"]=="chat") { echo ' //moe´s html goes here '; }
in the smf index.php, what do you think?
