[SOLVED] no splash for GRUB after update VL 5.8 SOHO final
« on: June 10, 2007, 02:51:16 pm »

If it happens that after installing VLconfig package of patches to update your VL and you see after reboot that there is no splash screen for your GRUB you can solve these issues in the following way:
1. GRUB:
In /boot/grub you can find file menu.lst
open it with your midnight commander issuing command :
mysweetVL:# mc
and you will find the following line:
splashimage=(hd0,0) /boot/bitmap/boot.xmp

You can go to directory /boot/bitmap and see that name of splash image is boot-grub.xmp.
Thus, you can change name of the file in above statement in /boot/grub/menu.lst
so that it reads:
splashimage=(hd0,0) /boot/bitmap/boot-grub.xmp

save menu.lst and reboot your machine and it should be OK. You will see nice blue splash image of your Grub.
