A friend needs a live cd to do some work on a laptop with no hard drive, and I recommended the new 5.8 Std live.
He'll be using a USB pen to save his files.
My questions are: can he put the iso in the usb pen and boot from it (as if it were a cd)? Will that allow him to preserve settings (e.g., xfce settings) every time he boots?
Would that provide a faster environment as well? Any special issues with doing this?
Remember he won't do any hard drive install or saves, so the only important thing is that the "live" experience is as costumizable and consistent as possible.
Sorry for the ignorance... don't know anything about live cd's.
