I reached (and passed) the milestone of 1066 posts without any celebration.

Damn.

If I missed my Hastings number already, I should keep 1337 posts in mind then.

I think the Ottoman Empire won a great battle in that year (1337, that is, by Christian reckoning). One wonders how they ever lost.

Watched a program on the Inca defeat at Lima Peru, by the Spanish Colonizers in what is now South America.
A team of forensic Archaeologists studied the remains of the Inca warriors and determined they met their fate at the hands of other indigenous peoples. Determined by the wound patterns not being those of the Spanish weapons of the time. There goes the story of a hand full of Spanish Calvarymen defending Lima Peru
against ten thousand Inca warriors and winning. There is NO record of other allies of the Spanish during this battle, and they kept detailed records of the events of the time. Makes one wonder about the Spartans.

Everyone knows about the military exploits of the Spartans, how they fought undead Persian warriors while the black metal band 'Melechesh' played in the background.
