Badly burned cdrom stuck in drive

Hi, I tried burning the first cd of the new Slack with K3b, but it failed at writing the cue sheet. Now the cd won't come out, no matter what I try:
- push the eject button
- eject it with

Code:

eject /dev/hdc -v

tells me it succeeded, but the drive is still closed
- I also got the drive out of the laptop, but I couldn't find anything that allows for opening the drive manually.

As soon as I turn on the computer the light on the cdrom starts flashing real fast, apparently continuously trying to read the first few bytes.

Anybody have an idea that doesn't involve taking the cdrom apart?

Do you see a small hole on the front? If so, push a thin wire (like a straightened paper clip) into it and see if it forces the tray open.

Thanks nightflier, that opened it right up! I was really starting to get somewhat worried.

I'm no expert, but it looks like the drive died... All it does now is blink the led on the tray real fast. And I just got my laptop back from repair

If you do end up having to open the box then disconnect the IDE, power up, and press the EJECT button. It's worth a try anyway.
