I just acquired a DirecTV RCA DVR with a TiVO sticker on it. It has a 40 GB hard drive. Other than just cannibalizing it for the hard drive, is there anything I can do with this unit (short of subscribing to DirecTV)? I havent cracked the case yet: does it have a laptop hard drive in it?

Funny you mention a DirecTV TiVO unit... my wife and I subscribe to DirecTV and have thought about getting a TiVO unit.

FWIW,
