http://www.vnunet.com/vnunet/news/2193214/ftc-abandons-net-neutralityThe Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has decided to abandon net neutrality and allow telecoms companies to charge websites for access.
.....
This means that the organisation will not stand in the way of companies using differential pricing to make sure that some websites can be viewed more quickly than others. I can't beleive that just happened!! How dumbs are they? Hopefully that won't be happening anytime soon in Europe....

Yeah, this decision by the FTC really sucks ... but what matters more is what Congress ends up doing. Right now things are still up in the air somewhat, though they don't look good. Even if a bill gets signed into law on one side or the other of this issue, such a law will almost certainly be challenged in the courts, and probably go all the way to the Supreme Court. I see a long, drawn-out fight over this.

She looks better at cnn... I really never dated a neo-liberal girl, they dont like me... And I guess I could do it, just no talks after dinner... My girl is center-left, btw (me too, but sometimes full left, if I watch the news to much ) EDIT: no, I saw a recent photo, she looks exactly like that...a true snapshot of a neo-liberal soul

I remember I saw someone's blog who checked the referrer entries in his log and saw that many people searched for ann coulter + [various vulgar terms associated with pornography]. I really can't imagine that. There's almost no flesh on her, maybe only little bits of rotten meat left over after she became a soulless Lich Empress. And DrGrov can certainly testify that I know where to find better pictures of women...lol

Aack, my stomach's starting to feel sick ...
Yeah, this is bad news, but that doesn't surprise me any more. And it would probably have some negative impact globally, both because of the amount of traffic from the US, and because of the many sites hosted in the US. Just thinking of free software ... how many projects can afford to pay bribe telecoms to provide fair bandwidth, on top of what they're already paying?
Oddly enough, I've found some articles about Microsoft (!!!) pushing for net neutrality.

I agree, incognu. You should start to host your pages in southamerica. You can have a dedicated server here for ARG$ 160 = US$ 42 per month, as far I know, the half of american costs.

How is the bandwidth there, rbistolfi? In some instances I can get faster downloads from overseas...

he, wait... looks like the prices are higher now, I found this one for us$ 60: http://www.domaingurus.com/dedicated-servers/linux-dedicated-servers.htmlIs hard to find bandwidth info, but I think the usual here is 2800gb per month. I advise to chose argentinian or similar mirrors, is a long trip, but the linux demand is low.
