Man this is down right embarrassing!!
Two back to back. Guess its true that the brain is the first to go. Humble apologies to any band width wasted on these two views. I will be more diligent.

awesome wallpapers. I really love them all. Keep em coming.
btw, please post them at kde-look and xfce-look sites.Graphics and wallpapers really boost a distro's popularity. Those websites are visited by millions of people daily

Appreciate the words of confidence and yes I will look into posting there as well. Any boost in popularity is a good thing.

Been following this thread for a while now, and I'm really pleased to see there are such artists among us.
Really love your artwork Frankbonatelli! Keep them coming those nice wallpapers, many can benefit/enjoy from your efforts. And it's good for the image for Vectorlinux.

In short: You ROCK!!!!

I agree, those are some very, very nice artworks, frankbonatelli. May I suggest posting a few onto www.kde-look.org and maybe even www.xfce-look.org?  With those looking so nice, I think sending some to those sites will benefit a broader range.

Masta
Thanks for the great words of encouragements. I agree that they should be posted to a wider audience and I shale do so this evening. Thanks

Freeman
Thanks to you as well, though to class my work in the light of an artist may be a stretch from my seat but thanks just the same.

Anyways this is what I have been looking for in a desktop image so check it out all and see what you think. It is the end of my "Stargazers view" series and will now look else were for inspirations. stay tuned for bigger and better views of my take on Vector Linux.

One question if i may for them in the know. Is it my understanding that this Distro was started in the Frazer valley area? May help in were the imagery takes me next. Any light shed on this question would be met with high regards
Thanks all.

These wallpapers are looking great! But would it be out of the question to make some wide screen ones? Maybe 1680x1050?

Yeah thanks! I like the vectorBEGININGS and vectorBEGININGS3. They look good. I'm a fan of really sharp hi-res wallpapers. (My monitor reveals all Cool )

I've always been a bit of a minimalist when it comes to my desktop, especially with VL. This screenshot of my IceWM desktop is something I've always loved. A really NICE graphic for the wallpaper, then little else to clutter the screen. It would be nice to have something similar out of the "box" for the new distro. Wink

Thanks for those! They actually look fairly good on my monitor. I see a little bit of 'residue' around the Vector logo though.

Here's one I made for my desktop.  I don't want to send to KDE look without approval as I modified the logo's look a bit.

Opinions anyone?

What software did I use, or what procedure?

Just Gimp with the standard filters.

I drew a map, used the jigsaw filter to make it like a puzzle.  Cut a couple pieces out and set aside.  Used the map object filter to make it a sphere.   Used motion blur for the flying puzzle pieces.  The golden "V" is the same V from the "vl_shine_essentials" download.  I just desaturated, inverted the colors, ran the stretch contrast.  Then did a gradient map with gold.

Of course lot's of trial and error was in the mix as well.  Grin

wow, frankbonatelli and exeterdad, those are fantastic wallpapers!  Thanks!

Here's one I've made:

The wave is based on a public domain photo from www.pdphoto.org.  I kept moving the logo up and down ... not sure I've got it in just the right spot.  I also took some liberties with the saturation (especially greens and yellows) of the logo.

Here's the source (bzipped xcf, 3.6 MB): http://www.mytempdir.com/1306379
