I recommend to install XAMPP if it can suite your needs. You will find a complete lamp server easy to install and configure. It is a distribution of apache, php, mysql, sendmail and more.

Vector can use the Slack format, .tgz, and the vector packages are .tlz. To install them you can use
# installpkg [name_of_the_package]
as root from a terminal, or rigth clic on the package and use the contextual menu to install the package right from your desktop.
You can use Gslapt or the command line equivalent slapt-get, to install vl packages in an easy way, this method will solve dependencies problems automatically. For mor e info about the VL package system you can take a look to the VL documentation, there is an icon on your desktop for it
