SlackRoll going stable, version 14
« on: August 05, 2007, 07:40:19 pm »
SlackRoll is an upgrade manager for Slackware. Here is the blog entry announcing the latest version:

SlackRoll @sourceforge

http://slackroll.sourceforge.net/

I dont have a clue whether this would be relevant to VL or interest VL developers.

I have to say... I'm not too impressed with it

It does not provide dependency checking and uses pkgtools to install or upgrade packages. It's designed to work with official mirrors.

slapt-get and gslapt both beat that ;)

Yeah, the major thing I missed on that page was an answer to "why would I want to use slackroll instead of slapt-get / swaret ?"
Most music on my soundcloud page was arranged in programs running on VL.

What's going on at SlackBuilds.org? Is this a source of packages for VL?

No, there are no packages there. However, you can use the SlackBuilds to build a package. They need some modification to make them build VL packages, but not too much. Another place to get SlackBuilds is www.slacky.eu .
