I have VL 5.8 SOHO, which has been updated with all the 'marked updates' in gslapt. I did have some wireless and samba freezing problems, but these have now been solved.

My only main problem is any file that I open from my NAS box ( a maxtor shared storage II), however I mount it ( using the command line to set a mount point, or using K Attach), will ALWAYS fully copy across first into my home directory. It doesn't matter what the file type is, what I'm opening it with, or it's size, across it comes

As you can imagine, this kind of defeats the object of having centralised network attached storage.  Wink It also makes version control a pain in the a**e when I'm developing web pages.

Any ideas where to start troubleshooting?

TIA

OK, I don't know why, but this problem has gone away if I mount using cifs, i.e.

mount -t cifs //192.168.2.5/public  /home/jjsh/mnt/public -o user=jjsh,password=mypassword

so that's solved!
