Mozilla Sunbird
« on: August 09, 2007, 08:36:43 pm »

I reckon this would be a good addition.
(sure, one can just grab the binary from the website, but I guess a package would be nicer)

Anyone knows of good calendar applications? (non-kde ones)

Thank you!

Have you tried XFce's Orage? It's more than sufficient for my fairly modest needs. If you need to share a calendar, I don't think Orage can do that. But you have many options for your own personal calendar.

Oh, I thought it was just a calendar, with no way of adding events.
Now that I found that, it seems alright. I suppose when coupled with a to-do list (maybe one of those post-it notes application) it would do its job. Thanks for pointing it out.

My preference would actually be for sunbird to get integrated into seamonkey...

Thanks for wanting to try to build it, exeterdad.

I'm having a frustrating time trying to build it.  I've given it a go four times and I still can't get it to complete.  It must be nearing the end because it compiles a couple hours before the errors.

J-Pilot includes a calendar with week, month, and day views, a to-do list with priorities and notes, an address book, and a memo pad. You don't need a Palm device but could use J-Pilot as a standalone calendar, to-do list, and address book app.

Thanks!
That's one other app that I didn't explore properly and actually had uninstalled because I assumed it wouldn't be that useful if I don't have a Palm thingie.

And seems a lot lighter than Sunbird as well.

Four times X couple of hours. Now, that must be annoying...
Thanks a lot for the effort so far.

I suppose there's always the possibility of repackaging the binary if that doesn't work, right?

Mine too. Meanwhile, you could try this:

Ical's pretty good too, it's the standard calendar app in Puppy. A bit plain-looking though, if that's a problem.

Still working on it.  I've lost count of how attempts I'm at now.  I did nail down one makefile in mozilla/layout/build that assumes everyone is using X117 now.  I got around that, but I ran into another issue further into the build.

Yep, sure can.  But now I'm ticked. I'll do that if and when I give up  :D

I won!!!  Just need to create a patch and then script the build.  Ummm  oh yeah, test the patch and script.  Then I'll package.  Should hit the shelves in a day or two,  I have some stuff to do first.

Fantastic. Thank you very much for packaging.
And the others for the suggestions... I'll try them all.

Hmm. I'm trying to find it but a quick google search only gives me the Mac app.
Know where I can fetch this one?

Thanks

HI,
I just noticed that Sea Monkey has a built-in calendar. Anything wrong with it?
Now I don't know if it has the ability to wake -up and notify of something to-do. But you might give it a look.
