attain certain names to devices
« on: November 22, 2007, 06:54:11 am »

hi, is there a way to alocate certain names to attached devices?..e.g usb-sticks

i do have a big external usb-harddisk with 2 partitions.and it depends on the timepoint, which sdax device pops up on the desktop.

i think it depends on the udev.rules file.
i experimented a little bit (set vendor-id..set product-id)..but in the end to no avail.there never show up a device in /dev .
imho i assume that the relation between hal and vl-hot is sometimes very specific adapted in vl.

does anybody has a solution how to edit the file or set a new rule?

i use soho 5.8 with kde.

greets günter

Bitte führe 'dmesg' aus, nach du den USB Stick eingesteckt hast. Was druckt es aus? Etwas über 'sd[a-z]'?
