I've noted that when I start konsole from the "start menu", as a user not as root, I get the following:
Code:
You are working as mscott
Frequently used programs:
Configuration  : vasm
File manager   : mc (press F2 for useful menu)
Editor         : mcedit, vi
Multimedia     : alsamixer, play

localuser:root being added to access control list
satellite:/~
mscott:$

Note the duplicate text. If I remove the switch: --ls then I don't get the duplicate text. Is this intentional as I didn't notice this prior to 5.8 SOHO.

Just curious...

Just an odd guess, bash runs as a login shell in Konsole and the redundant (and in my opinion unnecessary) code in ~/.bashrc reruns the /etc/profile.d scripts.

I wonder if it is because I "recycle" my home partition and the previous settings don't get overwritten?

Don't think so. I've been recycling my home partition since SOHO 5.

Check ~/.bashrc
