Midnight Commander and tlz formats
« on: August 11, 2007, 08:24:57 pm »
Hello!
Thank you for your excellent distribution. I want to install the distribution in unicode standard. To do this, you need to recompile Midnight Commander. But after compiling mc does not know how to work with the format tlz.
Give as teach mc work with tlz packages?

If I understand your request you probably just need to copy over the old mc.menu file from /usr.share/mc. That file contains all the scripts for the F2 user menu, and enables unpacking and installing Slackware and .tlz packages.

Unfortunately, you are not helped.
MC refuses to work with the archives tlz.
A slackbuild I can not find.  :(

It should work. mc simply requires you to tell it what to do with a .tlz file. That information is found in the file /usr/share/mc/mc.ext . You could try adding this code to that file:

Code: [Select]
# .tar.lzma, .tlz
regex/\.t(ar\.lzma|lz)$
        Open=%cd %p#utar
        View=%view{ascii} lzma -dc %f 2>/dev/null | tar tvvf -

Sorry, I do not speak English, and take translator program.
Perhaps we do not understand each other.
All I made as you advised.
See.
MC writes that tlz not tar archive.

Maybe if you post what it is here, someone can talk to you in your native language... :)

EDIT: I just checked your profile and your email is on a .ru domain. If your language is indeed russian, we have people here who can help you in that language.

Perhaps he wants to inspect tlz files with the VFS, as one can do with zip and tar.gz (IIRC).

Yes. It would be a good thing.
If you have a section at the Forum in Russian, I would have to put a question there.
So a forum Zenwalk.
But I like it is your distribution.

You are right.
The file /usr/share/mc/mc.ext worked on F3, the viewer works.
I want to be able to include in the package to enter keys.
I think the framers of the package modified source code MC.
So I looked SlackBuild to see.
Filesystem 7z introduced by MC /extfs may have the option to tlz?

P.S.
Bad translation!
I see that the program translator distorted thought.

No, just ask away if you get stuck in English... :)

Hmmm...

That would require a source modification. I believe Vanger may have had a patch.

BTW--that reminds me, there are other Russian speakers here.

Thank you. I, all of this, find a patch. For himself made MC, poniimayuschy lzma and utf-8. I want to share findings. How can this be done?
