No Sound under certain games.

I was just trying out some of my favouryte games (basicaly FPSs), but i realize that some of them has no sound.
Those games were trying to use a device (/dev/pcm), but this not exists.
My Sound card is the typical Realtek AC'97, but i dunno what is the exact device onto /dev use the sound card.

¿Can I tell Quake2 (for example) to use ESD or ALSA or someone else?
The exact error returned by Quake 2 (or quake3 or some other games) is "/dev/pcm" not found (basically, that device does not exists: ls /dev/pcm: not found)

Apparently oss uses /dev/dsp nowadays. perhaps a symlink can work? try

ln -s /dev/dsp /dev/pcm

There must be a way to start those games so it uses alsa, but that should be documented somewhere in their documentation. As for esd, it's evil and I would rather not have to use that.
