Yep, I will do Yafray. I just did Blender so Yafray's coming. I'll see what I can do about Jahshaka, I had tried to build it one time but it didn't like me.

Here's the specific error I get with lilypond:

After some detective work, I found that make install gives this error:

I have no idea what is going on here. One thing that I can do is just copy the bin/ lib/ and share/ folders from the out/ folder to the package folder, but I'd rather do a straight make install. The lilypond binary works fine from within out/bin/

Not sure what you're up against with that error. Not looking at your script, but make sure you:

make || exit 1

Your script doesn't care if make is successful or not, it'll just keep on packaging.  You can also

set -e

right under the #! line so it will stop on any errors in the entire script.

Yup, I know. I did forget the "|| exit 1"  after the make install. That's why I didn't see the error in the first place. But that's fixed now.

I finally got a working lilypond package! I copied the folders as I mentioned above and it works! However, lilypond puts a WHOLE bunch of other stuff in those folders that doesn't need to be there. The package weighs in just over 22Mb! So, I have a working lilypond installation, but it's not something I'd submit to the repos yet. Still trying to figure out where that error comes from.

Whooohooo! I did it! Lilypond is packaged.  After countless hours of work, I get a....2Mb file in a folder.  Was it worth it? I don't know, but I have to say, my Prelude No. 1 came out looking Beeautiful after using lilypond with it.

My "fix" was to pass the -i option to make install. Listen up all you wannabe packagers, I am NOT endorsing the use of the -i option EVER. Don't think you can pass it to make if something isn't working and submit it to the repos and get away with it. The only reason I can do it, is because make install was hanging up on a nonexistant file, I made sure everything that was needed but that file was installed, and I tested it thoroughly. Also I didn't pass the -i option to "make all". That would be a very big no no. I only passed it to make install which just installs the files, the actual compiling of lilypond occurred without error. For those of you who are wondering, the -i option tells make to ignore all errors.

When I saw on their site that they said "Compiling lilypond is an involved process" I didn't pay any attention. Now however, I believe them. Whew! I hope someone can get some use out of this package. I know I will. I better, after all that work.

Great job dweeberkitty. Surely is an useful package. I remember some time ago a new member requested a musical notation soft. There is no much options in Linux for this. Noteedit is not developed anymore and it fork, Canorus, is still too young. Lilypond wont compile in 5.8 because of the toolchain.
Well, we can print some scores now, thanks! BTW, would be nice to listen that prelude sometime ;-)

If I can make a descent recording of it, sure! I don't have any microphones worth anything. So far, the only way I can record anything that sounds relatively good is by hooking up my computer to the electric piano, which as you can imagine isn't quite as good as having a good microphone set underneath the baby grand.

Thanks for posting that app. I was going to do it a while back but skipped it because of the KDE deps. Now I can do it since VL5.9 has KDE libs installed. I'll do that one.

wow, you have a grand. I recorded my brother and his verticall piano a few month ago. We used to have a cheap Maya44 pci card, it can record 4 channels, full duplex. A friend o mine gave me four nice condenser mics. We recorded a small piece for a short movie. I was amazed about the possibilities. A home studio is a great thing to do, and one of the betters way for having fun without lose your time  .
I gave the Maya to my brother, it has no linux drivers

That is what I though. And honestly, I think kdelibs is a small piece of hard disk compared to the benefits. By now, I think you have most of the deps already.

It's only a 5'9" 1934 Kimball but it's pretty nice and has just been tuned but needs to be regulated. The only sound card I have is the one that's built into my mother board. And the only microphone I have is one of those cheesy voice microphones. I've been thinking about getting some better equipment but I haven't done anything yet. I'll probably finish writing my prelude before I actually buy anything. As it is, I only have about two pages written but the rest is all still in my head.

Hi Dweeberkitty, I think Hanumizzle and I found something, wxGTK-2.8.6 is missing from the Audacity required.
Do you get clean audio recording with ardour2? I get some noise, but my soundcard is crap so I don't really know the cause
