It is not being developed anymore and has poor support for dvd tasks. Take a look at cdrtfe, it has support for all kind of tasks and almost for every option possible given by the backend tools. It is just the opposite, comparing to graveman.
And there is no way to content everybody, people seems to want k3b. I remember when 5.8 was released, a lot of posts about "how can I install k3b in std?". Kdelibs looks like a reasonable addition to me, I can't see why not.
