Doing these Bonus discs one at a time is going to take a loooong time. I think if we got together some more development teams to work on some of the other discs simultaneously, it would go really well. I think one to start off with would be the Gaming bonus disc. If anybody would like to manage that project just PM me and we'll talk about it.

The gaming disc should be pretty easy to fill up a disc. In fact, there might need to be 2 discs. If anyone's interested in working on that, just talk to me about it.

Basically we want the disc to have all the packages necessary to install all the best games for Linux. It should have all the dependencies updated to the latest version etc...

We need volunteers for this project. PM me if you want to help.

Wow! The silence is eerie. I've only got one volunteer so far. We still need some more people to work on the gaming disc. If you want to work on it, just PM me.

There is already a dedicated gamers distro project based on VL, Supergamer VL:

http://supergamer.org/home.htm

IMHO it would be a waste of time and effort to start another project for this same purpose...why not just pool your resources to help out Supergamer VL instead?

Thanks for that link! One problem though. We don't really have any resources...Only one person wanted to help. We do have some other bonus discs that we can work on though. Here's the list of other ones that we could do:

• Designers
• Musicians
• Enterprises
• Schools
• Servers
• Developers

Is anyone interested in working on one of these?

IMO the Supergamer VL and Gaming Bonus disc projects are different enough to warrant both.
one is a livecd and the other a cd full of packages that all users can install.
That being said I think that they do overlap and if some of the same people could work on both it would benefit both projects, and All VL users.

I think that if we did do the gaming disc, we would be easily contributing to the SuperGamer by giving them our packages. Likewise, we can borrow packages from them. I just looked at their site some more and it does seem that it would be nice to have a separate project for a Bonus Disc. That way people who wish to play games on VL don't necessarily have to download a live cd or install a new system. They can just install the Bonus Disc on their currently installed VL system. Easuter does have a point though. We should help the SuperGamer guys out but I think that a good way to do that would be to make the Bonus Disc. However if we're going to do this thing, we need volunteers to start putting it together. Right now, I'm working on the Multimedia Bonus Disc so we need someone to take charge of this project.
