wont read Audio CD's

Hi i just recently installed VL Gold on my Thinkpad R40e and everything is fine, exept for the fact that when i put in a Audio CD it wont mount it, it will mount other things like data CD's but no audio.. and i want to rip my CD's onto my laptop any help please!!???!!??

Audio CD's cannot be mounted, because... well, I really don't know why, but I guess it's just not a "normal" filesystem structure.

If you want to listen to or rip them, whatever application you use for it should detect it. You can try RipperX or install k3b from the repositories and it should rip your music just fine.

actually the reason you can't mount it is because audio cds have on real file system. But he's right any audio player should recognize it even when it's not mounted.

Dang buttons on the cell phone are so small.. and the t9 input mode sometimes guesses the wrong word ;)

Put a music CD in your CDROM drive. Boot up xmms and play the CD. Open a terminal and type "alsamixer". Unmute the appropriate controls with "m" and use your arrow keys to increase gain or volume until you get sound. Read "man alsamixer" for help. You might need to adjust a few controls before it will work.

Also click on the little speaker icon on your panel.
Doesn't that one access alsamixer, lagagnon?
