Where can I find a music player like iTunes or Amarok for VL with xfce? I don't think I can compile Amarok for my system, can I?
I don't need eye candy: just the nice functions that mplayer or XMMS don't have.

an amarok package is available for download using gslapt - however, amarok requires a few kde libraries (they should be installed automatically), so when using amarok it will be much more resource intensive than xmms - if you have lots of RAM you should be OK. You might also want to check out audacity.

There's also songbird (http://www.songbirdnest.com/) that's supposed to be very much like iTunes, though I don't think you'll find it in the repos.

Aww Crap!!  That reminds me, I built a Songbird package a couple weeks ago and forgot to upload.  The package and script are bye-bye now as I've reused that partition a couple times since  Undecided

If you would like to trim it down a bit, marcus, I installed amarok with slapt-get but did not install arts, kdebase, or other libraries that I did not need. And it works fine.
