Just for fun, I wanted to build a LAMP stack from source. So last night I used gslapt to remove apache, mysql and openssl (I was going to also build the latest OpenSSL from source).

So, I got the latest OpenSSL source, compiled it (with the --shared option) to /usr/local/openssl, added "/usr/local/openssl/lib" to /etc/ and ran ldconfig. There is a symlink in /usr/local/openssl/lib called that points to and a symlink called that points to But now, whenever I try to open any program that depends on that shared library, it fails.

Do I need to recompile all the programs that depend on ?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

no, you'd better recompile openssl. Configure it with --prefix=/usr .

Most music on my soundcloud page was arranged in programs running on VL.
