Hi,

I tried alot to play media files in mozilla firefox but all efforts in vain. Is there a way to install "vlc" plugin in firefox so that media files can be played back? I referred to the earlier post where a procedure was given to play it in opera. I tried that too but it didn't work. Is there any solution to this.

Thanks

It would help if you post what version of VL you are using, as well as links to the URL's you are trying to play.

Firefox plays most things pretty well for me, with the mplayer plugin.

Probably... I'm not a big fan of vlc though. Building normal vlc is tricky, building the plugin is difficult, as I remember from last time I tried.

Well, you could try give us the following info:

1) what version of VL are you using?
1) what version of firefox is installed?
2) what version of mplayer is installed?

Can you give some links with media that don't work for you?

If you are absolutely sure you want to use the vlc plugin you should configure it like this:
Code:
./configure --prefix=/usr --enable-mozilla
You will need to get "mozilla development tools" though, and that is where I got stuck last time.

Does it absolutely have to be the vlc player, or would you also settle for the mplayer plugin? That one comes with VL by default, and should be pretty easy to use once we figure out why it isn't being used now.
