hi there!

i have a Subversion Server running on my VL 5.8 Std and wrote a little script, that should backup my repositories to a usb-pen-drive. The Script works well when i double click it or run it from the console, but i wanted it to run automatically once a day, so i copied it into the /etc/cron.daily folder - but it doesn't work. After 3 days (computer up 24/7) it didn't run once.

do i have to register new cronjobs anywhere or what's my mistake?

Did you enable the cron service (can be done in vasm) for the relevant runlevel(s)?

Well thanks, the cron service wasn't enabled. lets see if it works now. Is there any specific time when the cron daemon runs all scripts in cron.daily ?

I'm not quite sure i understood what you wanted me to do.. Must be my poor english.. Sad
Anyway i guess it'll work now with the daemon enabled.

That is set up in /etc/crontabs, here's some info found with some quick googling:
