How do I get mail sent from a cron job....
« on: October 21, 2007, 04:08:16 pm »

Seems that I can't figure out how to get my local mail for su.  I added a script to cron and want to see the e-mail it should have produced.  Searched the internet, but all I can find is how to fetch mail from the internet etc.  I know I used to do this easily in RH6, but my memory fails me.  Its probably so simple, it's pathetic.

I think you'll be needing something like sendmail to do that (i.e. a mail daemon).

to read your mail it may be as easy as cat'ing you mail folder in /var (e.g. cat /var/mail/<user>/inbox)

these are extremely generalized so maybe someone else with more experience can give more specific instructions.
