Hi! I just installed Enlightenment on my Vectror machine. Now: how can I add it to the startup menu? Which file I must edit? I don't want to boot directly on E, but to choose it if I want. And where the bin file actually is?

what version of VL are you using?
I just compiled E17 on 5.9 and it was added to the kdm sessions automagically.
I did however have to edit the /usr/share/apps/kdm/sessions/enlightenment.desktop file and change
Exec=enlightenment
to
Exec=enlightenment_start

where did you get the E16 that you installed?
you can type "whereis enlightenment_start" and if its installed you will get the path to it.
you can also type "cat /var/log/packages/pkgname"  (change pkgname to the actual packagename you installed without the .tlz)
and it will give you a list of all the files that were installed with the package.
using kdm you should have a file called "/usr/share/apps/kdm/sessions/enlightenment.desktop" once you find the executable to start your E16 then you add it to the Exec= line and you can choose it.

I found it on linuxpackages, with matching epplets, utils and docs too.
Here's what I get by typing "whereis enlightenment"

I can't see anything like "usr/share/apps/kdm/sessions/enlightenment.desktop" as you said.. actually the folder "usr/share/apps" doesn't exist. so...which file do I have to edit? I know I have just to add a line with the enlightement path, but I don't know where...

sorry on 5.8 it should be /opt/kde/share/apps/kdm/sessions/enlightenment.desktop

Hi. I'm still here.
I installed E16 and all works fine, I'm getting started with it. The only problem is it lacks a file manager. So..there's a way to have it working with Thunar? Or maybe I could download the Rox and install on E. The fact is...that would create problems with thunar and xfce?

you've always got midnight commander for a console file manager... pretty hard to beat it's abilities.

aside from that you should have thunar and xfe for file managers.  have you tried starting either of them while in e16?
