Download accelerator
« on: November 07, 2007, 10:21:26 am »
Is there any download accelerators for vector linux?
Resume and acceleration supporting one with graphical interface.
I found the default Kget is very slow for me. It is slower than default downloader with the mozilla!

Also whenever I look for a particular software in the internet, there are many options like Debian, Ubuntu, OpenSuse...
Which is the vector linux supported?

Please help

Re-installing is not a problem, but it is when I had to.

I don't have any experience with it, but VL5.8 Standard has D4X included in the basic install. Give that a whirl.

in my personal experience all the so called download accelerators are all one big humbug, the only way to increase your speed is by you signing for a higher speed, for instance u check the internet speed using before and after installing the software , you wont feel any difference

While its not graphical (pure command line), you could try aria2c. It supports resume, as well as multiple protocols and the ability to download using multiple connections. While it won't 'accelerate' the download, it will allow you to make maximum use of your available bandwidth.

Its in the repos, the most recent build is still in testing. For the earlier version, start Gslapt, update its database and search for 'aria2c'.
