Vector 5.8 Standard GOLD
« on: November 17, 2007, 06:13:45 am »
Being new to Linux thought I'd try a version that looked stable.  Downloaded V5.8 standard Gold but found the MD5 checksum didn't match.  Downloaded again and again it was wrong.  The downloaded ISO did not produce a usable CD. Is this a known problem?

It happens more, when downloading with a browser. Try downloading with a dedicated download tool instead. Wget has never failed me, so if you have a linux available you could try that :
Code: [Select]
wget http://vectorlinux.osuosl.org/veclinux-5.8/iso-release/VL-5.8-std-Gold.iso
Most music on my soundcloud page was arranged in programs running on VL.

I use standard, but SOHO _may_ have a more complete feel if you are really new to linux.  FWIW.  (I started with SOHO and loved it - then moved to standard and loved it more :D )
