Xfburn?

Simple question here. Does xfburn work 'out of the box' for VL 5.8 standard?

That doesnt guarantee it will on yours, although it should.

How does it stack compared to k3b? I ask as if xfce will continue being the default on standard...why not put this in instead of kdelibs and k3b if this'll work just as well?

I don't think xfburn comes anywhere close to K3B.

I agree, Moe. My favorite app for burning cd's is open source, but has no linux version: cdrtfe. Can you believe it?  >:(

Unfortunately, yes. I have a couple of favourite open source apps that have no Linux port.

About k3b, I simply love it. Works better than windows nero for me.

I think you will agree, I want to see a k-meleon port for linux. It is the lightest fully capable browser around. The interface is a little hard, but the project is still young.

That's a good example. Others are virtualdub, 7zip (gui) and a some others I could name if I had a few minutes to think about it... ;D

EDIT: well, one just hit me in the face with a popup message: Free Download Manager, it went open source recently.

Some opensource projects I'd love to see ported:

- Modplug (works in wine, but no support for Jack)
- Winamp's Advanced Visualization Studio (works in wine, but not fullscreen)

Unfortunately, I don't think I'll ever have the skills to do either of them :(

Most music on my soundcloud page was arranged in programs running on VL.

THanks Headeacher, I didn't know about Modplug. I like Media Player Classic, very lightweight and simple media player.

LOL those are good ones too, actually cdrtfe is a short for cd-r tools front end, and uses windows versions of mkisofs and cdrecord.

PS: Good to see you again  :)
