Does anyone else here use the M-Audio Delta 410 sound card under Vector Linux?

Does anyone know how to properly set the functions in gamix or the terminal-based ALSA mixer?

It seems to run OK with XMMS (which uses the OSS driver). It skips a bit with other applications like VLC (playing DVD's). It skips A LOT while attempting to record from an analogue source using the sound editor, AUDACITY, and nothing I do seems to help.

If anyone can offer me some advice, I would appreciate it.
