Installed using gslapt:

Package installs without warning, but when trying to connect:
Error: installing TLS module:: Couldn't get http://switch.dl.sourceforge.net/sourceforge/amsn/tls-1.5.0-linux-x86.tar.gz
Another box shows the TLS module installation wizard with a progress bar at 100%, saying received 392 of 392 bytes.

The file exists at the address and I can download it manually.

Hi nightflier!

Thanks for pointing out that.

I had that same type of problem when I did built aMSN on my own box. I got it from SVN that time and it complained about exactly
that same thing that it couldn't receive the TLS module that it required for connecting.
I solved it so that I restarted aMSN and tried fetching the file again and on the second attempt it pulled it from there and installed it.

This is WHY it is so important to point out what kind of problems there are. This is not due to a build fault but a program fault. Without this kind of good pointers on critical
problems that nightflier and others point out there is no way to address a problem. Even if it is a program fault it is very important to point it out.

Thanks nightflier! Smiley

Cheers,
DrGrov

Happy to help out any way I can  Grin

Unfortunately, re-starting the app and trying again did not work for me. I tried it several times, even un-installed and re-installed and tried again. It seems like the downloader does not give the server enough time to respond, as the error message pops up immediately.

Some searching reveals that this must be a common problem, and the solution is simple: download the module, extract it somewhere and set the path in Account > Preferences > Advanced > Others > Browse button. This worked fine.

Is there some some reason VL could not include the TLS module in the package, or make a separate, dependent one?
