5.8 SOHO hibernate/suspend
« on: December 15, 2007, 12:26:12 pm »
How Can I enable hibernate or suspend on my system? I found a "how to" but it seems out of date. I was going to post a question but I get an "red" alert about the thread being over 120 days do I really want to reply?

5.8 SOHO
Kernel 2.6.20.3
I found a patch from http://www.tuxonice.net/downloads/all/suspend2-2.2.9-for-2.6.20.patch.bz2
I installed fresh and ran patch with no errors.
Not sure what to do next though.......... ???

Here's a "how-to"  :P without any detail just headlines:
After running the patch you will need to recompile the kernel, boot with the patched kernel, define where you want your hibernate file places (swap or a predefined file), run the hibernate script that is available at TuxOnIce's web site.
There is a very well laid out "How-To" on the TuxOnIce web site. It will probably be more informative than what most here would provide.

Thank you very much. I followed the "how to" on this forum and changed the file names to suit my system. All works fine now. Now I just need to do it again on my daughters new laptop. :P
