xfce language
« on: December 18, 2007, 07:19:08 am »

Hi everyone! I'm trying to set to spanish the Xfce language but can't find any option to do so.
How do I change it?

I'm using Vector 5.8 Std.
Thanks in advance.

Hola Diego, try looking for the /etc/profile.d/lang.sh and /etc/profile.d/lang.csh files.
Edit the as root with your favorite text editor and replace 'en_US' with 'es_XX' (replace XX with the correct locale, for example for Chile, es_CL). Restart the x server to see if we had success.

HTH, and Bienvenido a VectorLinux ;)

How about a wiki entry about that. It's fairly simple, but a recurrent question in the linux world.

With this two changes, is it still necessary to export LANGUAGE or LC_MESSAGES, for example?
I remember a post by caitlyn that mentioned other variables that needed exporting (on a user's bashrc if done on a user-by-user basis).

Usually, no. Very rarely, actually. Furthermore, I wrote a script for setting lang.sh that I hope gets integrated into VASM. :)
