Very good news! I always though IBM was the owner of the smb protocol.

Actually the smb protocol was from MS.

Samba from the founder and then the Samba team
the took over the Samba reverse engineered smb.

The would send packets then captured them and attempt
to duplicate rinse, repeat.

Which is the reason that Linux does not do the best in a
Windows server environment.

This should make things a whole lot easier. It will actually
allow the team to stop spending soooo much time on the
protocol sniffing. Win 2003 protocols were changed and
Server 2008 will be as well.
