Can you copy an already installed vector linux to a portable hard drive attached to a usb kit then attach that portable hard drive back to the laptop and boot?

If you are using a generic kernel then the
answer is probably. Never had a need to
try it. I have moved hard drives from one machine
to another without problems.

If you try this and succeed please make a howto
and it should be posted.

I did it once, just re-doing the hardware detection through vasm gave me a working machine. Using the shipped kernel, indeed.
