It probably will be. However, the new CFS scheduler (by Ingo Molnar) integrates features from Con Kolivas' scheduler and CFS is already in the mainstream kernel, so its not like Kolivas' work is going to "die" when he stops releasing his patches. |

Is it possible to just download all these CK kernel packages and do a upgradepkg ...tgz? Wont this break my system and dependencies and stuff? Or can I safely upgrade?

I would NEVER do an upgradepkg on a kernel! these kernels should work well on your box but there is only 1 certain way of knowing. use installpkg to install the kernel and modules, and the source if you need it. then run vliloconf or add the new kernel to your menu.lst for grub and reboot to test it. Only then after you know it works and you like it better than the old kernel would I removepkg the old kernel and resetup my bootloader. |

They have not been built for those kernels yet. Sorry to be slow getting back to you. Is there any issue with me building them? I've built the latest stable release ones for Zenwalk not so long ago, so I've got the source somewhere around  paul. |

They work fine on my box. Only thing is, on startup, it stops a long time (3sec) for Coldplugging ... (blue text). And I had to reinstall my nvidia drivers, but because of VASM that wasn't a problem. Did I mention allready that I love VASM(CC)? Well.... I defenitly do!  |

seems to be working fine on my laptop. Everything I tried worked great (faster than vanilla kernel) except wireless but I think I can get that figured out. Thanks for forcing me to try it again |

Is there any proof that these ck-kernels have better performance that standard ones? I tracked the discussion on the net about Con Kolivas patches and it seemed that benchmarks showed that ck-kernels do not work faster. Maybe I missed something? |
