Serial Port Communications
« on: December 30, 2007, 10:15:19 pm »

Hi,

I didn't find minicom in the repositories.  Is there another program available that handles serial port communications?

(for VL 5.9 Standard Gold)

You can build it yourself. Maybe look at
Slackbuilds.org

I tried building minicom 2.2 from source, but I got errors executing configure.  I have gcc, make, automake, and autoconf installed.

I found a slackware build of gtkterm, however, at
http://www.slacky.eu/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1976&Itemid=2

This looks like it will do the trick - I don't need anything fancy.

Update - after I added the two repositories below to Gslapt, I could get both gtkterm and minicom.  Both repositories are already among the choices in Gslapt in VL 3.9 Std Gold - just need to activate them.
