Is building packages for VL5.9 same as for VL5.8?
I got some application that I want but is not availbale in VL repositories. I try to use the vpackages but it prompt out some error message. That why I want to buildi it manually.  Shocked

If you want to build a package just for home use you might be able to use checkinstall. If, however you want to build packages for the repository, you'll have to use something with buildscripts so the package can be recreated by running the script. There are already a lot of SlackBuilds out there, you might be able to use one of these. Another option to look at is cruxports4slack, there's a nice HOWTO about it here: http://vectorlinux.com/wiki/doku.php?id=howtos:porting
