Upgrading From 5.8 std to 5.9 std
« on: January 14, 2008, 01:43:26 pm »
Hello,

Is the 5.9 std installer smart enough to recognize there is an old 5.8 std already installed and just use it's setting?
(Mount points, users, ....)

Thanks,

Unfortunately, it is not. But if you are smart enough, you can save important files and put them back on the new install. If you used a seperate /home partition on 5.8 and use the same on 5.9 all your users settings should stay the same.
Most music on my soundcloud page was arranged in programs running on VL.

Oh well, a fresh install is always good.

Thanks.
