We only have Amarok 1.4.7. An upgrade to the latest would be nice.  Wink

Quote
Amarok Headquarters reports yet again another release of the marvelous Amarok 1.4 'Fast Forward' series.
Just like its predecessor, Amarok 1.4.8  fixes a fairly large amount of bugs, and therefore increases stability of Amarok's stable branch of development. Among the major improvements is the resolution of an issue that could, under some circumstances, cause a complete lockup during dynamic playback. Last.fm metadata fetching now also works with xine 1.1.8 and we made sure you can now also use your brand new iPods with your favourite music player.

This would actually be 1.4.9.1 now.
I compiled it without problems, but haven't had the time to build repo packages lately.
In any case, JohnB316 is our Amarok man, I think  Wink

Thanks!

hi

may i just add(in case nobody noticed yet)  that the very cool Album Cover fetching feature is broken due to changes to the Amazon website?
i mention it in case someone(else besides me Wink) cares.

see: http://amarok.kde.org/forum/index.php/topic,15235.msg22151.html#msg22151

the SVN version has fixed the problem.

thanks all

1.4.9.1 has the problem solved, I think. I used the cover fetching with no problems.

Thankyou for posting that information wcs.
You have provided this lazy bones with just enough inspiration to investigate compiling one myself.  Shocked

Here's the options I used:

Code:
./configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc --mandir=/usr/man --libdir=/usr/lib --bindir=/usr/bin --localstatedir=/var --without-arts

Although you might want to have support for arts, in which case you can remove "--without-arts".
There are quite a good deal of options, so you might want to enable them for specific support.

You only need kdelibs (and ruby, I think). Kdebase does not need to be installed, if you don't want it.
If you already have a previous version of amarok, then you should have the dependencies installed, in which case you don't need to worry as much about going through all the configure options.

EDIT: I compiled this in a not-very-fresh install of VL. That's why I won't be submitting this package to the repos (at least, not until I do a clean install in another partition).
