High everyone!
As of today I have decided to start redecorating my VL59. The things I want to change are
-Lilo theme -Bootsplash (both silent and verbose mode) -Login screen theme (KDM ?) -And perhaps xfce splash screen.
Im having a bit problems with a few of these. First things first, the bootsplash. I have made jpg files for silent and verbose mode (800x600 and 1024x768). Is there a simple way to change the background BG during boot ? Or do I have to recompile kernel ? Whatever the case may be, any advice on how to do this is appreciated. Lilo theme I can handle with a bit of googling. Xfce splash screen and KDM theme are something I have no experience in though, any advice are welcome.
Thanks.

bootsplash themes are in /etc/bootsplash/themes. /etc/bootsplash/themes/current is a symlink to the theme that is currently running VLbsplash-switch is a small zenity script that will change the bootsplash theme including creating a new initrd and updating lilo if you so choose.
kdm themes are located in /usr/share/apps/kdm/themes/ the config file is /usr/share/config/kdm/kdmrc VLkdm-theme-switch is a small zenity script that will lis the themes in /usr/share/apps/kdm/themes/ and switch them for you.
the xfce splash screen has a few different "splash engines" we are simply using a custom image and the simple engine. you can change the image by going to splash settings in the xfce settings and cliak the configure button. there are splash themes for the other engines on xfce-look.org

Bootsplash & kdm theme are almost taken care of (:. - Uelsk8s, can you adjust the gradient progress bar in 1280x1024 and 800x600 modes too ? Then make a tar.gz and send it to me ? Just whenever you have the time, no rush. I need a screenshot of this so I can publish it later with previews...Ideas ?
- I also made a better version of KDM theme. I need someone to take a screenshot of it somehow for me..
..Anyone willing to help please let me know. You can find me at #vectorlinux or right here. (:

I'm "redecorating" my VL too, I changed the lilo theme succesfully.
I want to customize the login screen too, but I am running VL Light Beta2 and I don't know if it's KDM or something else, in any case it doesn't have a place for a picture, etc. just a blue VL background and the login box. I'm a bit confused atm with window managers and file managers and so I have no idea about how to change my login screen, or what runs it at all.
I also don't see any bootsplash images when I boot.
Any help on customizing bootsplash and login in VL light B2 is appreciated. Thanks!

I think VL59Lite uses the "Slim" login manager, but I'm not certain and don't have it loaded. See here: http://slim.berlios.de/

The site seems to have everything I need about changing the login theme. (if I could find where slim it is installed) Anything about the bootsplash? EDIT: I searched for slim and couldn't find it.
