plz help me.....me a new user f VL..

how can we configure ADSL modem through LAN

Hi, you will have to give some info about the modem, as the exact model. Is it connected to the computer through an USB, or an Ethernet port? Do you need any special software to make it work using another os?
Most of the time, you have to open a browser, type http://192.168.1.1 in the address bar, a screen asking user / password appears, admin / admin are usually the defaults, then you get the modem settings page, and you have to configure your internet connection using the data provided by your ISP.

I hav a Dlink ADSL modem...me connected through the Ethernet port...

wen me try to connect to the net using a Vectror linux live Cd......,i got the connection.....

but me tryed using the installed Linux(VL).....the pppoe is not activated.....i think der is any configuration in the n/w in the os side...

boz me connected using the live cd,do not change the modem settings.......

tat's he pro...k

den...der is any configuration in the OS side..?

try running as root pppoe-setup. Answer the questions and once finished, run pppoe-start.
