[SOLVED]56K USRobotics ISA modem not detected...(R.O.C. Project)
« on: February 08, 2008, 02:03:14 pm »

Hello all,
I'm still working on this old machine described HERE and I have the problem that the modem is not detected. The command
Code: [Select]
lspci shows all the PCI cards and it also should show the card in an ISA slot.
How can I approach this issue?
Any other tools or commands to search for the modem?
 ???
PS.:
In a computer with LinuxMint installed the modem, which is set to 'COM3 and IRQ4', is detected at ttyS2.

lspci only searches the pci bus, not an isa bus. Try "pnpdump"

Thank you, lagagnon, for the info.
;D Yes, the modem is detected and yes, I can connect to the Internet! ;D
What did I have to do?
1) Change the hardware jumper on the modem to option: PNP and IRQ3
2) Using 'Chestnut Dialer' to configure the modem...
    Enter for Device: /dev/ttyS2
That's it... Problem solved...Case closed!

@Cariboo

Again, you only needed to be pointed in the right direction and you took it from there.

You will do well in the Linux world.  :)
