if you are getting the openoffice package for 5.9 you need more than 250mb free space
Quote
root:# slapt-get --install openoffice.org --no-dep
Reading Package Lists... Done
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  openoffice.org
0 upgraded, 1 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 91.2MB/92.6MB of archives.
After unpacking 358.7MB of additional disk space will be used.

since the package takes up 92.6mb on your HD before it is installed you need to have at least 450mb just to get it installed.

I think it is installed in /opt/openoffice. if it is just delete that dir along with the package that was downloaded to  /home/ftp/pub/veclinux/packages/x-apps/ and you will get your HD space back
