/dev/hdaX mounted 25 times with out check, check forced

I get this every now and then while booting. Is this expected? I do a normal shutdown daily.

FYI: That is not the swap partition

This message is just informing you that the filesystem is being checked for any errors that may have cropped up. In earlier days, it was deemed necessary to always check the integrity of the disk storage every time you booted the system but with more modern filesystems (such as EXT3 and REISERFS) this is not as important (and fsck can take a bit of time with large capacity drives) -- therefore a filesystem check is only performed every once in a while.

In your case, the system is set up to automatically test the file system every 25th boot. The value is somewhat arbitrary and you can modify for EXT3 (and EXT2) filesystems using the 'tune2fs' command.

Hoo! but is once in 25 re-boots okay? Should I modify this value?
