New to Vector, not to unix/linux. Tried many distros and settled on slackware about 5 years ago. Just tried slack 12.1 and got pissed with some of the setup and various problems, like even trying to compile an nvidia driver, crappy fonts (slack 11 looked better, and yes I tweaked xorg.conf and added windows TTFs). Said to myself, "hey, it's 2008, and it has become even harder to setup over the years." Tried Vector 5.8 SOHO Friday. Said to myself, to hell with slack. Vector is slackware without a day of setting up to get where I want to go.
