ok, I must be a dunderhead. I wanted to get vnc installed on my vl 5.8 gold so pulled up gslapget and did a search for vnc... NOTHING. So I was going to ask someone to make a package out of it. then did a search on this forum and found its supposed to be there already. So, I must be using gslapget wrong... but I'm not sure how to fix my problem.
Please help this very humble Vector Lover....

You're right!... seems to not be there...

I would suggest using vpackager to build it from cruxports4slack

vpackager -> New package from cruxports4slack -> search "tightvnc" and build away!

I've not played with 5.8 for a while, but I thought cruxports4slack (and vpackager) was only in 5.9?

ahhh... my mistake, you're on 5.8

Using vpackager would require you to install gambas2-runtime and also the cruxports4slack backend
