limited login!
« on: March 07, 2008, 10:50:31 am »

Hi,
I just installed and was prompted for a root password but not a vector login password. I can't login. How would I fix things without having to reinstall? In other word enter a new password and login. If I have to go terminal, how would I accomplish this? Thanks, Michael

After root login use VASM to add a new user.

If still in the console use adduser <username> follow from there.

I can't seem to get out of the console. I don't have a root password, so I can't work from root. I'm trying to get to the "add or delete" user menu but can't seem to get out of the login screen. Thanks, Michael

I'm a little confused at which point you're stuck.. you can't get past the login screen?
Did you not enter any root password during the install?
Did the installer not complete?

I now was able to get to root and change the users. I am able to login now but get the message "errorno 104" unable to connect to xserver.

Try selecting "linux-tui" on boot, log in as root, run vasm and select "autosetup" for the hardware, then "users" to create user accounts and passwords.
