Now when I view the VL home page I get the PHP setup for the site. I would seem to be "wide open".

I thought you meant a rival like http://www.pardus.org.tr ......... Terrible thing. It cost a lot of time which could be spent to real stuff.  I hope there is a backup of any sort or date? Fear for this kind of thing makes me backup my personal site a lot.  |

Yes, this is unwanted effort, but on the positive side, this is making us mature in our security and security policies. I never even thought of this, often used to read in newspapers about these kind of things, but this is my first real experience.

Hackers just annoy the living hell out of me. Well tbh one of my friends hacked someone's hotmail, but only after the victim threatened his sister. Little sympathy there.
They should take up trolling and they'll cause less damage...
